Government Deliberately Collapsing Our Business; Ejisu Pig Farmers Cry Out

Ejisu Cluster of Pig Farmers Association

The Ejisu Cluster of Pig Farmers Association in the Ashanti Region is accusing the government of deliberately collapsing their businesses through the Municipal Assembly following an attempt to forcefully eject them from their present location.

According to them, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon S.O. Frimpong is bent on taking over the piece of land and redeveloping it for the intended Ejisu Market project.
The Spokesperson for the association, Mr. George Agyei expressed disappointment in the MCE for spearheading the attempt to illegally eject them from their present location without offering them an alternative location to keep their businesses alive.  He rejected claims by the MCE that the Assembly gave them a one-week ultimatum saying no notice had been served to that effect. He also refuted the claim that the said piece of land belongs to the Ejisu Paramount Chief, Nana Afrane Okese.
As far as they are concerned, the said piece of land belongs to the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO).

Swine flu Disease
Mr. George Agyei was emphatic their members are still in a recovery process from the deadly swine flu disease which killed about 70% of their animals last year.
He sadly noted however that the government is yet to fulfill its compensation promise as put out by the Food and Agricultural Ministry for which reason they are struggling to keep afloat only to be hit by the heartless and insensitive move of the Assembly as they put it.

Call
The Ejisu Cluster of Pig Farmers Association is by this medium pleading with the government to as a matter of urgency intervene and stop the Assembly from going ahead to embark on what they describe as a cruel and insensitive mission.
They fear hundreds of such members who may be affected by the eviction will be rendered jobless.

Reports indicate the farmers have been issued with a one-week ultimatum to vacate the land which has been said to have belonged to the Ejisu Paramount Chief.
